Constructed between 1960 and 1964, Lake Eppalock is a significant reservoir located on the Campaspe River in central Victoria. Originally designed to provide irrigation from the Campaspe River and supply water to Bendigo, it remains an essential part of our region’s water infrastructure.

Richard "Dick" Carnie was a pioneer in Australian boat racing and a key figure in the Victorian Speed Boat Club. He was involved in designing and racing several hydroplanes, including STAMPEDE (VS41), which won the prestigious EC Griffith Cup in 1970, 1971, 1973, and 1974. Dick Carnie's team also competed in international events, including the Seattle Sea-fair Regatta and the BUDWEISER & C.L.E.A.R. UNLIMITED HYDROPLANE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in Texas, with their boat AUSSIE CONNECTION still racing today.
