2026 EC Griffith Cup Commodores Thank you
This year’s Yarrawonga Power Boat Spectacular is now in the history books—and it will be remembered as one for the ages.
What unfolded across the weekend was more than just a race meeting. It was a statement. On the water and on the land, it was nothing short of extraordinary. From flying motorcycles to flying hydros, it showcased the very best of our sport—and more importantly, the very best of our people.
But moments like this don’t come easy.
They are built on 12 months of planning, and years of hard lessons, persistence, and determination. They are built on sacrifice—time away from families, long days, tough decisions, and a commitment to something bigger than ourselves.
To our Race Committee, our members, and every volunteer who stepped forward—thank you. You didn’t just fill roles… you carried this event. And you carried it with pride.
As Commodore, this one sits differently with me.
Standing in front of you all over the weekend—knowing what I know personally, and what lies ahead—was not something I took lightly. There were moments I didn’t think I’d get through. But I did. And I did because of this club, and because of the people in it.
You gave me strength when I needed it most.
That’s what this club is. It’s not just boats and race days—it’s people. It’s history. It’s mateship. It’s a group of individuals who stand shoulder to shoulder when it matters.
For over 70 years, this club has been built by people just like you. And this event has now taken its rightful place among the very best we’ve ever delivered—and arguably one of the finest seen in this country.
Every one of you who contributed should be proud. Truly proud.
Your efforts have not gone unnoticed— by the members, by the club’s past leaders, and not by the broader sporting body. More importantly, they won’t be forgotten.
Now, take the time to enjoy what you’ve achieved. Share the stories. Relive the moments. Because years from now, people will talk about this one—and you’ll be able to say you were part of it.
And as for me—it’s something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
Thank you.
